Help understanding maternity pay please

Hiya.

Please can someone help explain this as my HR team are not making sense and I thought another mum might know.

I’m getting paid SMP and OMP but every month my pay differs dramatically? HR said it’s cause maternity leave is calculated by how many weeks in that month/pay period. But it seems the months with more working days I get paid less?? Anyone else had this?

Also The pay isn’t making up what my usual monthly salary was either but I’m sure my contract said maternity pay for first 16 weeks would be same as full pay?

Any ideas? Thank you

Get your contract out and speak to work. Only they know the details of their policy

SMP is paid weekly so it does vary from month to month.
In terms of your first 16 weeks being at full pay, you will need to check your contract/maternity policy and then speak to Payroll/HR
