extra nap or early bedtime?

hello,

my 10 month old had a rough night last night. wouldnt go to sleep until 10pm and then woke at half 2 and wouldnt drift back off until half 4. as a result she woke up later than normal this morning at 9ish and has just gone down for her first nap. I'm presuming it is going to be a longish one, atleast until half 1/2 to make up for the late bedtime and 2 hours she lost during the night.

my question is, she needs around 3-4 hours awake time between sleep periods, depending on nap length. so if she doesnt wake until half 1/2 that puts us to around half 4/5 at the earliest for another nap. her usual bedtime is half 7/8.

would you allow another nap at 5, which is going to push her bedtime to around 9ish again or would you do an earlier bed time? if she wakes up at half 1/2 she could probably get to 6/half 6.

and also, out of curiosity, what is your 10 month (or similar aged) baby routine!? I am so tired atm, she has slept through a handful of times but when she was a lot younger around 3 months old. co sleeping doesnt even help anymore. I think this is why I fear an early bedtime because I then worry it will cause her to wake up a lot more because she doesnt realises its bed time iyswim!?

Ahhhhh days like this are such a pain! I'd go for early bedtime, but try and push her as long as possible - we often take DD for a stroll to the pub or shops on afternoons like this because she's such a nosy parker and all the people keep her so entertained she forgets she's knackered!

she has just woken up as I thought she would so earliest she would entertain going for another nap would be about half 4. sigh. we will see how she goes I guess!
