9 month old with one bright red bit hot ear - just teething?

Hi

Came on this afternoon, no temp, playing and eating. Hasn’t been lying on it. Can’t see any bite.

Rang HV for some advice, she referred me to gp. I hate going to gp as the only way to get an appointment is to say it’s urgent, and it isn’t.

Could it just be teething? Any experience of this? She does have some top teeth coming through.

Thanks x

DS has often got a random really hot, red ear and he's4. I noticed it again yesterday, never thought anything of it really, just thought it was one of those things that happened. Definitely never caused him any discomfort.

It did get airbrushed out of his nursery portrait picture last year!

Could be teething, or could be the start of an ear infection so might be best to get it checked. Although apparently they don't like to prescribe antibiotics for ear infections anymore so it might be pointless anyway. But keep an eye on it.
My dd has glue ear and never showed signs of ear infections until her ear drum burst.

I think you should get it checked out, but it might just be teething. One of mine used to really pull his ears when he was teething, possibly she’s doing something like that.

Thanks everyone. The colour is back to normal today although she is pissed off with life so going to keep an eye on her. X
