How does 2 month old napping work?

I'm assuming this is normal but I can't find much online and I'm interested to know how it works. My 2 month old is awake for about an hour-hour and a half during the day then naps for 45min-2 hours on and on, then like clockwork 6pm until 5/6am all she does is sleep, wake, eat/need held for comfort, sleep again and repeat. Obviously I'm glad because its makes things easier at night but I had no idea this was something that happened? Probably sounds stupid its hard to explain, I guess I was just under the impression that they couldn't tell day from night for a long time to go and that babies are round the clock constant routines like daytime (I know maybe that's stupid but this is my first and I've honestly no idea, nothing online seems to refer to this way my daughter sort of switches off later during the day and night?). Is there a way to switch this routine to later? Sometimes i sleep with her once she starts this but its pretty early for me. But then if I dont the 5/6am rise hits hard Confused

Sorry, struggling to follow, what is it that you're having a problem with - your baby waking up a lot at night? This is really common, especially if she's breastfed. It'll get better as she gets older.

Sounds very normal to me, I wa surprised how quickly mine got used to nighttime and daytime too.
Maybe try keeping her awake just 15 minutes later a night until you get to a slightly later bedtime if thats what you want? Like by giving her a bath a bit later near her normal sleep time to try and push it back?

She does wake up a lot but i dont have an issue with that, what im saying is that I'm just surprised that she switches herself off 6pm-5/6am? E.g. only wakes, eats, then sleep straight away again. Is there some sort of time slot like this where this happens, since she's getting used to day vs night?

I think that's very normal, 5am is a fairly common wakeup time for a little kid! Though at 2m, literally nothing is permanent. Everything is a phase. If you want, you could try shifting her bedtime back a bit? But tbh at that age they just do whatever they want/need.

@BumpLoading that's worth a try, hopefully it would push her back a bit without making her overtired. I hear people suggesting baths as part of a nightime routine, is that every night? I just bathe her every 2-3 days at this point without any specific timeframe really!

Sounds normal to me and lovely that day and night are reasonably clear. It can take longer. My da3 seemed to get it pretty quickly. Not sure you'd manage to shift sleep time to the right at that age, especially with the darkening evenings. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try it that's something important - bear in mind it won't necessarily mean she sleeps longer in the morning.

No you don't need to bath her every night so young, just was the only thing I can think of that would keep a baby awake longer at that age, I didnt bath my baby every night until 6 months when I started a bedtime routine.
