Activities & Places to go on rainy days

Thinking generically here.

We do painting, library, museums, soft play, swimming, toddler groups, and shopping. However, after the dire health and safety warnings my trolley thread inspired, I am thinking we may need to strike Tesco's off our list.

Other ideas??????????????

What about stuff to do at home? Making biscuits (you can cheat and make them from biscuit mix if your children are too young/not interested in making the mixture themselves)? Or keep a "rainy day box" - an old shoe box full of cheap toys you pick up from charity shops, but keep back till you have a bad morning.

It's more about getting out of the house, I find. Sometimes we can be 'cutting, sticking, colouring' etc... for what seems like hours but then I look and find that only 3 minutes has gone by. I miss the good weather when we could go out on really long walks.

I feel like I am a bad mother for finding this a bit boring!

How old is your LO? (I'm guessing 2ish??) I found making 'camps'/'houses' etc with an old sheet over an armchair or two and providing a tea set etc kept dd amused for ages. And for wearing her out, we used to make a 'circuit' with cushions off the sofa, beanbag, etc: the game was to jump/step from one to the other without touching the floor - or roll around on them - anything that used up energy, basically.

Sorry - didn't spot the 'getting out of the house' bit.

Trouble with rainy days is, all the indoor places like softplay get packed...shopping malls were good for us, or just putting on lots of wet weather gear and making a game of getting soaked

Thanks, E'bean. Trouble is, I have 2 under 3 (ds1 is 2.6, ds2 is 6mo), and not much in the way of family nearby. My 2 closest mum friends just went back to work, leaving me feeling a bit bereft. I've bought ds1 some wellies, have raincover for ds2. Sod it, will just take them out in the rain!
