Baby 6-8 week check

What happens at the 6-8 week check and how important is the timing of it?
So far my baby hasn't been able to be seen because of Covid restrictions and although I've kept checking if they're happening yet I've been of the mindset that it can't be helped and if it was essential to be done at that point they would find a way round it.
Just had a phone call to say the surgery are now doing them, but the doctor is now self isolating so I need to ring on 4th October when he's back to "try" and get an appointment. Baby will be 16 weeks at this point! This just seems a very long time after the "6-8" guidance?

It was very brief from what I remember. They looked at her eyes and how they were tracking an object, a look at her limbs and hips, measured her head circumference, a few questions about how she was etc. We got a paediatric referral for her reflux (already being treated at the time).

To be honest, I think if there was something concerning about your baby's general development, you probably would have gone to see the GP now anyway. Won't the nurse have already seen the baby for immunisations? They would probably have picked up on anything obvious.
