Which temp would you go with

Trying to keep an eye on DD's temp as she's had an off day today. It has been ok during the day but I wanted to check it before I go to bed. Unfortunately she sleeps with her hands behind her head, and is in a short sleeved vest with 2.5 tog sleeping bag (so her armpits are completely exposed). I tried the usual armpit method anyway, holding her arm to her side of course, and got 35. As she was sleeping soundly I cleaned the thermometer and popped it gently in her mouth, which gave a much more normal 36.6. It wouldn't have been under her tongue though. Which reading would you go with? Her forehead, neck and chest feel warm, just her arms a little cool.

Mouth. I’ve seen nurses struggle to get a sensible reading with the armpit method on DC.

I’d go with mouth, or my instinct from feeling her. I know you didn’t ask, but we’ve got a forehead scanner thermometer from boots, it’s been going for years now, and it’s hands down one of the most useful items we own. Especially useful for nighttime temperature checking with easily roused children! Hope your dd is feeling better soon.

Brilliant thanks, that's what I thought. The forehead scanner sounds like a good shout, I'll have a look for one of those. It was a bit tense when I did the oral reading Grin
