Changing bag recommends

Hi

Would you recommend just getting a normal rucksack (one big compartment) and chucking all the essentials in?

OR

A changing bag/rucksack with lots of compartments?

Does it matter? Any recommendations of good ones? Trying to figure out if it's a scam for new parents cash, or if actually they are super useful.

It is a scam! I spent £90 on a StorkSac one. V quickly ditched it for a £20 rucksack I got in TK Max that is a million times better!

If you get a rucksack, try and find one with a pocket at the back to put the changing mat in. I didn't realise did until I got home but it's such a useful feature.Otherwise it's a standard rucksack with one main pocket and one either side x

I can't comment about changing bags buy we used a normal rucksack and it was a right pain. I could never find anything ever, it was just a black hole of stuff where you could never lay your hand on what you wanted.

That said I wouldn't spend a lot, I'd just get one off Amazon.

Get a changing bag rucksack as it will have special straps to attach it to the pram and lots of smaller pockets are useful for when you have to grab things.

I've just got the skip hop grenwich for DS2. Its £99 on John Lewis website but if you don't mind getting it in dusky pink instead of black online4baby are selling it for £44!

I spent about £25 on one from amazon. Still using it 16 months later. It's a bag you really don't need to spend a lot

I've got a changing rucksack. I don't use all the pockets! Everything is bunged in the middle.

Normal rucksack and then use pouches (make up bags in my case) to store everything. Means you don't have to take a full bag with you to the baby change and easier to find what you're after.

I love my babymel robyn one. They clme in loads of designs. The main feature I love is that the straps can be attached to the pram or within seconds can become a shoulder bag or rucksack.

I've got 3 different ones and the best one is a 25 rucksack one from amazon. I like having the bottle pocket and pockets inside so I can find things. I wouldn't waste money on an expensive one tho. I like my amazon one over the expensive one

I just used a Lonchamps Pliage bag that I had been using as a laptop bag for a year until DD was born. Nice and roomy, big aperture, semi smart. Worked a treat.

Or indeed 'Longchamp'. I don't even know what autocorrect was trying to do there.

And it was the tote style, rather than the backpack.

I bought a big leather handbag from eBay and preferred it to the changing bag I had.

Also have one from amazon that was less than £30. It's worth it for the compartments and a decent price.

I got a £50 changing bag with my travel system. Hated it from the first time I used it. I do however use the portable changing mat that came with it. It's so handy.

Now I have a bog standard £20 rucksack from TKMaxx and couldn't be happier.

Definitely look into getting a portable change mat as well if you get a rucksack. Especially one with attached compartments so you just have one thing to grab from the bag.

I got a backpack style changing bag, it was gifted to me but I think it was about £30 on amazon and its been amazing. So many pockets and its got a zip on the back at the bottom so yoh can access the bottom of the bag easier. I dont use it much now as dd is 2 but still use for swimming lessons and days out, and i will be using it for my second baby who will be along shortly its still in really good condition

I started off with the Babymel Robyn. It was ok, but we go for a lot of day trips and it soon became apparent that we needed more space to fit a picnic and flask as well, so I flogged it on Facebook and bought an ordinary rucksack that had more capacity. I use a basic zippy sponge bag inside it as a capsule nappy kit - easily whipped out for quick trips to the baby changing room.

We use regular rucksacks with a toiletry bag inside that contains essentials. Toiletry bag then gets moved between either being just thrown under pram, or in whatever bag dh and I are using, usually a rucksack.

The toiletry bag fits a spare outfit, 4 disposable nappies, disposable wipes, 4 washable wipes, small empty wet bag and a Muslin. We then just add a reusable nappy or two loose into rucksack or pram depending on how long we plan to be out ( the disposable small in pouch as emergency back up)

I just used normal bags with a fold up change mat, I think I even used a soft cooler bag at one point

When tiny I had a rucksack changing bag because there’s so much stuff. Just a fairly cheap on off amazon.

When a bit bigger I used a hanging wash bag which could drop in any big handbag.

I had a cheap and cheerful change shoulder bag that also went over the pram, it had a few compartments but not too many. As soon as DD started walking it became a pain and we moved to a rucksack. Wish we had earlier, it's so much easier. Two friends of mine have £20 ones off amazon and have used from day one and think they're great!

We used the silver cross one that matched the pram.

Scam.

Unless someone gives you one use any bag that you find easy to carry and with makeup bags/carrier bags inside to separate the contents. (You will still find having carrier bags useful if you have a changing bag unless you are going to throw all vomit/poo stained and wet clothes away immediately.)

I initially had messager type changing bags that matched my pram/pushchair but since I also used slings/baby carriers it really didn't matter what bag I used as long as it was comfortable to carry.

I now use small hiking rucksacks as my toddler walks a fair bit. I put small bags inside them to divide contents. Once my LO becomes potty trained she can use the rucksacks herself.

Normal backpack. Changing bags are an absolute rip-off. I was given one and gave it away after a couple of months in favour of a normal backpack that was a third of the price and 10 times as useful.

Seems to be pretty unilaterally for a standard back with maybe a washbag/little bag inside to keep things separated. No need for any insulated pockets!

For all those who love their normal rucksacks and bags from Amazon, would anyone mind sharing any links with me? There's so many on there it's quite overwhelming!

Asda have started selling changing bags in their women’s bags section, I have a grey dumbo rucksack style but they do a lovely leather handbag type one too and some other designs, all come with a changing mat too. I paid £24 and it’s light and easy to carry around/attach to the pram, lots of pockets etc. I love it! Well worth a look you don’t need to spend a fortune.

For my first child I had a a Pacapod bag which I hated as it was too heavy and the pods were a waste of space. I got a walking backpack from Mountain Warehouse as it had padded straps and got a fold up changing mat from Poundland. I think it was only about £20 and was ideal.

For my second child (five year age gap) I did buy the Skip Hop Forma backpack which was £70 and it does clip to our pushchair and is very nice but still prefer a decent walking backpack as I find the straps are more comfy.
