I have an exam on Thursday for a course which I have spent all year doing the bare minimum of study for.. case of having to.

I want to revise tonight. Have done none all day (no time) and can't tomorrow (out all day til midnight... going to London, been planned all year since before exam date came). But before I can revise I have to clean up the kitchen and find somewhere to dry 4 loads of washing. (Tumble drier broken.. this morning man came to fix washing machine that broke on Saturday.. just as he left, tumbler broke, have had to keep washing cycle after cycle as washing was going mouldy in the washing bin .. have an SN child who generates LOTs of washing.) Have put heating on even though it's a mild evening just so I can dry on radiators. Not enough radiators.. arrgh!)

I have to lay school uniform out.. have a bath.. get stuff ready for taking out tomorrow.. lay out all drugs for morning (for DS's).

My eyes are already shutting. I'm not going to get any revision done tonight am I?

I'm going to fail this exam aren't I? A whole year wasted. I can't remember anything.

Sorry. I needed to rant. I am going spare. Family (at least one of whom should be in bed) are watching Simpsons. DH has said he'll sort kitchen but drop in ocean really. So may as well do it myself.

ARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And I spelt dryer wrong.

And I put a BLOODY ROUGE APOSTROPHE in DSs even though other people's rouge apostrophes are the bain of my life.

I may just get pissed.

Thank you for listening.

Am laughing at myself now.

Right. Off to start that list of things to do.

Family are now watching Eastenders.

You will be fine, relax and enjoy exam on Thursday. I have one that day too and am beginning to doubt I will make it, only 40% needed so maybe. Good luck I have every faith in you.

EllHell · 08/10/2007 20:22

Oh Shiny... You will be fine. You know your stuff, you've done the work, and you just have to keep your head in the exam (easier said than done, I know, but it will at least be calm and quiet in the exam room) and write what you know. Don't worry too much about structure and wording. Those things don't get penalised as heavily in work done under exam conditions as they do in essays when you should have time to go back over them and correct them. Sort out the drying. Leave the kitchen for dh (he did offer... and you are looking for displacement activities). Try to do a couple of hours tonight before you go to bed. But divide the two hours into four half hour stretches and give yourself a 5-10 minute break after each half-hour. In that time, do not look at the kitchen... try to walk around a bit (down to the end of your road and back... anything to keep you awake and stop your brain going to sleep). After you've done two hours, stop and don't try to stay up really late. Do not panic about what you haven't done, but look on whatever you have managed to do as a bonus.

Oh and go out and have a great day tomorrow. Enjoy yourself.

You will be fine. Did I mention that? Repeat after me: 'I will be fine'.

Now get off MN and start revising woman!

EllHell · 08/10/2007 20:23

BTW, am PMSL at your 'rouge apostrophes'... I am imagining them all dolled up like little apostrophic tarts with too much blusher and leather mini skirts.

maisemor · 08/10/2007 20:25

Just deal with the laundry and tidying of the house tonight, but do let your DH help you. Just go in and switch the telly off and tell him what to do.

Enjoy tomorrow. You can use all Wednesday to do some last minute revision.

Can you study on the plane?

Remember you will have mumsnet crossing their fingers for you and wishing you good luck

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 08/10/2007 20:43

Thanks. And thanks Ellhell. I will do as you say. I only sat here do eat my rice pudding And now I've popped back obviously! Maise.. what plane?? I would like to get on a plane very much...and escape!.. but I don't see one looming in the near future!

Good Luck!

I always have the self doubt thing before exmas too!

Your adrenalin will kick in & you will magically remember what you think you have forgotten!

What is your exam in?

And plane???

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 08/10/2007 20:55

K204 Working with Children and Families

Some of my revision doesn't even FEEL like revision.. it's totally unfamiliar to me!

Does adenalin induce mind reading abilities? If so I'll read the mind of others taking same exam. It's cheating.. but they'll never be able to prove it!

Fireflyfairy2 · 08/10/2007 21:59

Don't read the minds of the others taking he exam.. read the minds of the lecturers

EllHell · 08/10/2007 23:27

Good luck, Shiny. Hope you got something done. And don't worry... remember that you don't have to answer questions on ALL the topics (do you?). You would normally always have a choice, so you can focus on the things that are familiar. Hang on in there! I am right behind you (but don't read my mind, cos I know nothing about any of this... my knowledge of anything about anything stops in 1321!)

3andnogore · 10/10/2007 14:34

Shiny, how is it going?
How do you feel now?
Wish you luck for tomorrow anyway

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 11/10/2007 13:49

Thank you EllHell (shouldn't you be Hellbell! ) and 2andNoGore (is that Al? or blood n guts lol!)...

I'm home! And for now I don't fecking care about anything else.. I got there.. I sat there.. I wrote for 3 hours (3 answer booklets! Due to my mad handwriting only I suspect!) and I didn't faint dead away.

Ahhhhhh the relief!

Good luck those still to take theirs!
