2 under 2?

I have a 6month old baby and I feel like I want another. If we conceived straight away (unlikely but considering all possibilities) we would have a 15 month gap. It that doable? Financially it’s okay. And I’d like a smaller age gap between the two. But also know that going from 1 to 2 is a big step. DP is on board and would like another too.

Stories of having 2 under 2 please?

16 months between mine (not planned) who are now 2 and 3 and things are just starting to get easier.

Not going to lie the first few months were tough, and double nursery fees were a killer for a while there, but I feel like I’ve got the baby years done in one go and the bond between them is amazing, plus being in similar age bracket they are into the same things.

There are obviously pros of having a bigger gap too but it depends on your circumstances. But it’s certainly doable.

I felt the same when my ds was only 6 months. I’m really glad I waited because age 12-18 months was pure hell. Lovely, but exhausting. He was walking, into everything, had no sense/too young to listen to instructions, stopped sleeping, needed more stimulation, became fussy with food and started to want his own way. Now he’s 21 months and it’s a lot easier. It’s difficult in the sense that there are more tantrums but he understands me a lot more, plays by himself for longer periods and is less interested in destroying everything out of excessive curiosity! He also a lot better at being motivated by praise and is more independent.

Obviously this is just my experience as every child is different. I’m just warning that I had a dreamy chilled out baby for the first 12 months and then everything became so much harder!

Honestly, it’s great. They’re both in a solid routine, they both nap together in an afternoon, bedtime is the same time. They’re 2 and 10 months now and it’s been way easier than I anticipated!
Obviously there’s tiredness, I can get quite touched out especially when they’re both teething. But they’ve started playing together now and it’s all worth it!

16 months between mine, now 2.5 and nearly 4. It was hard work for the first 9 months, really hard.

I'm now expecting no.3 and I'm glad there's a bigger gap. Clearly it didn't put me/us off.

13 month gap here. Good in some ways of doing all the baby stuff at the same time; same age group for activities etc. Constant bickering if they don’t get on though.

Also think about whether it would be right for you physically & mentally as well. 18 months minimum is recommended between pregnancies for various reasons.

16 months between my first two, sort of planned in that I wasn't doing anything to prevent it, but reckoned that because I was breastfeeding and it had taken ages to conceive the first time, it was unlikely to happen quickly. Wrong!

It was hard at first, the first year went by in a blur. Once they started playing together and both sleeping well it got easier. They are young adults now and still very close.

Anyway, it can't have been too bad, I had a third a couple of years later
