OU Tutorials (urgent)

I have just started my first course with the OU and have just realised my first tutorial is this week. Problem is it's from 7pm until 9pm...there is no way I can make it, I am a single parent and cannot do night classes.

Do you have to attend these tutorials?

No, you don't. Your tutor should send you the notes from the tutorial if you can't attend - remind them if they don't.

I'm on my 3rd OU course now and I attend sporadically at best - childcare usually being the issue.

Attend if you can, they are generally helpful, but certainly not essential.

You don't have to - I always found them utterly pointless but I guess it depends what you are doing.

Your tutor will probalby arange something else with you, maybe a monthly phobnecall or e mails

and remember the conferences on the website, you can get loads of help from there

And the clever and organised ones are really aggravating inspiring

Don't worry - I have had courses where I haven't been to any tutorials and tbh I don't think it made any difference. They are good if you are feeling isolated and want the social contact but, really, you cover so little of the syllabus at tutorials they aren't a great help.

I've done two courses so far and haven't attended tutorials for either due to travelling... we don't all have cars!

They're actually in the same city this year so I might try one out!
