Can breastfed toddler lose latch in 2 weeks?

I wasn't able to find a breastfeeding topic, so hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.

My 17 month old is breastfed and we will need to pause the breastfeeding for 2 weeks as I will not be with him. I'm hopeful we can just resume after the 2 weeks. Has anyone any experience with this? I'm worried that he could lose his latch and somehow forget how to feed. Is that possible in just 2 weeks?
Thanks!

I don't know at this age as mjne was a little younger when self weaned but she essentially forgot/lost interest in 4 days. She doesn't treat my boobs now any differently to daddy's nipples ie pokes with amusement!

We were ready to wean which is probably relevant background as I didn't focus on getting her back on but she certainly wasn't fussed and never asked (I never declined her the breast when weaning). I suppose if your LO isn't ready they might come back to the breast but I don't know how often you feed or how crucial to his routine it is? I suspect lots of different factors so maybe chat to a breastfeeding consultant to see what you can do :) good luck x

At that age, and for that length of break id say its probable that your toddler will stop bfing. Also will you be pumping to keep up your supply?

I don't think they will loose the latch exactly but 2 weeks with no milk and I think they'll just get used to the alternative.

Ime they were a lot older and the break a lot longer....and they definitely didn't lose their latch or not want to bf.

Have you asked on la leche league? They are running online zoom sessions and some to one to one too. Google and look for the one that's your local one and they will have a usually weekly call. The website might have some info too.
