DS is all stuffed up. At 7.30pm he had a temp of 38.1. Gave him calpol. Now at 10.30pm his temp is 38.3 so it's gone up. What should I do?

Do you have ibuprofen?

fitzbilly · 12/09/2020 22:34

Call 111

They will tell you what to do.

Ibuprofen always lowers my DS temp way better than calpol does - I'd give that a try if you have some at home

How is he other than the temperature?

I would strip him down to just a vest and light blanket to keep him comfy. You can give ibuprofen as well if he is distressed. Lots of fluids.

Household needs to isolate for 14 days now too or until you can get him tested.

Run a hot shower and sit on the loo holding him. The steam will ease the congestion. Is he wearing lots of layers?

slipperywhensparticus · 12/09/2020 22:37

Have you removed a layer? Ibuprofen? fluids?

Read the NICE guidance on feverish illness in under 5s which says don’t give paracetamol/ibuprofen just to reduce temperature, give it if they feel rubbish.
