Why can´t I sell my nappies???

I have some nappies to get rid off and I´ve posted on two lots of classifieds and I´ve tried the sale board here 3 times now and I don´t even get any interest! I´d be happy to come down in price if anyone even showed interest but nothing, nada, zip, zilch...

I feel very duped, one of the fringe benefits of cloth is allegedly that you can sell them on afterwards and that just doesn´t seem true... or is it me? [sniff.. sniff..]

Back to the original question...
MurderousMaveta - have you tried UKParentsLounge? They have quite a good classified section for cloth nappies. I have both bought and sold with no problems on there. No politics about whether you are a "regular" or not...

If you use Paypal and never send items before you get payment, no reason you should be ripped off (as a seller). As a buyer, get photos from the seller before you agree to buy something, check their feedback wherever possible and use Paypal.

With 3 children under 5, I do pretty much everything online and (fingers crossed) haven't been ripped off yet - I highly recommend it. I guess I could be seen as a "prolific" trader but that's because I have so much stuff (!!) - I am also a prolific buyer!!

Hope you manage to sell your stuff.

Littlemoos is my site and a few people have bought some of my wraps but no nappies yet, but it's very new so doesn't have a huge amount of traffic yet. It's free to post though so you've got nothing to lose by advertising them

Thanks Sally and Moosma, I´ll pop by and stick them on there aswell and see if I can move them. I´ve never tried to sell anything before on here, ebay or anywhere and I have to say if I do eventually get rid of these, I probably won´t bother trying again, it just seems like a huge hassle.

I tried UKparents lounge but there seems to be some problem logging in think someone is trying to tell me something?

I think they changed the UK Parents Lounge server this week and I have heard lots of people saying they can't log on - therefore now is obviously not a good time to post on there. Hope you have more success elsewhere!!

quote Sally 'If you use Paypal and never send items before you get payment, no reason you should be ripped off (as a seller). As a buyer, get photos from the seller before you agree to buy something, check their feedback wherever possible and use Paypal'

  • also as a seller only send to a confirmed address, only send via trackable means and don't accept paypal if you only have a personal account this way you have seller protection. I had a personal account and sent nappies to an unconfirmed address and although paypal raise a dispute and ask for tracking details (which I had) they still refunded the buyers account as her address was unconfirmed and if it had been I probably would have still been screwed because I only had a personal account.

bevb
being a bit of a paypal novice, how do you know if it's a confirmed address and whati s the alternative to a personal account?
wraps still selling on ebay apparently? anyone had any success? i'm thinking of selling some size 1's on there once i pluck up the courage - first ebay sale!!

FWIW I went to an NCT sale yesterday and they were selling washables there second hand. Have no idea what they were - looked like wraps ? - as I am not due until Jan/Feb and have not fully explored washables yes although it is something I am very interested in.
Perhaps you could contact your local NCT and see if they have a buy & sell newsletter or something. This was a large table top sale with clothes, toys, prams the lot.

lisad123 · 14/10/2007 11:30

i always look at nappies that are for sale, but often find people are asking a lot for used nappies. im not saying you as cant recall posts, but that might a reason.

Morocco to see if a buyer has a confirmed account you check the paypal email sent and below the address it states 'means of postage:' then below that 'address status:'. I'm not sure how you check your own address status I think its checked through your credit card that is registered with paypal. As for an alternative to a personal account I have a premier account which is charged for all payments to me but I have this cover which means a lot to me after having over £100 taken out of my account because I wasn't covered by seller protection.

thanks bevb, tbh it puts me off even more using paypal, scary to think it is that easy to take the money back out of your account
