Baby’s first birthday

Just wondered, in these strange times, what you guys would do to celebrate a baby’s first birthday?
I’d always anticipated having family and friends round to the house, low keys, just cake and nibbles etc.
But obviously now with restrictions on how many can be in a home and from different houses, it’s now of a challenge. Hate the idea of giving people allotted time slots 🙈

Anyone have any ideas on how to celebrate with our family and a few friends whilst following covid guidelines!?

Would just do immediate family and tea and cake.

We had a picnic in the garden and put up a gazebo in case it rained. This was in July so a fair bit warmer than now, but I would be happy to sit in a coat.

It worked really well. We had a 'bring your own picnic' birthday tea and just provided tea and cake. We limited the time to 1.5 hrs which was just enough. It was all socially distanced and immediate family only but still felt special as DH's siblings drove quite a distance to be there.

@Ihaveoflate if he was a summer birthday this would be my ideal set up , but he’s October so will likely be chilly and rainy! 😫

How about hiring a soft play centre for a private gathering? A small place near me is doing this as they can't open to the public yet. They charge £125 for a 2 hr session. It's not cheap, but maybe you could ask family to chip in instead of gifts?

Good luck whatever you end up doing. I'm sure it'll be lovely - and babies never remember anyway!

Go to a local farm or zoo?
