How often should 13 week old need to eat

Hi guys

I’m breast feeding my 13 week old, a as prod 80% and then supplementing with formula if we are out or so my husband can do a feed.

He used to eat every 2 hours but now gets angry and kicks/cries when I try to feed him that often. I know their tummies get bigger but on average how often should they feed? If he cries my first thing is food but maybe should be sleep?

Thanks

At 13 weeks, mine were having 5 feeds a day (7am, 11am, 2pm (after nap) 6.15pm (after bath) and 10pm (this was a formula feed given by DH). They also generally woke once in the night - although that was getting later and later. It was about this time that they started regularly sleeping through from 11ishpm to 7am.

Both mine were nearly 12 pounds at 13 weeks.

Breast feeding often lead to sleep. If your breast feeding just offer milk. You can’t over feed a breast feed baby.

My ff baby didn’t sleep through until 13 months and god knows when my bf baby will start sleeping through. Babies sleeping through is far from the normal.

Throwing something a bit random out there and my baby is only 6 weeks old so ive no idea really but how is your babies tongue? My baby was crying and getting upset sometimes during feeds and the tongue i always assumed was just milky was thrush! Just worth the thought maybe. Good luck Smile

I can't remember when my babies fed at that age but they're good at letting you know when they're hungry. Every two hours seems quite a lot. My friend's baby is about that age and eats between 3 and 5 hours.

Mine fed 3-4 hourly at that age. We were told in the hospital not to give formula more than 3 hourly (think something to do with digestion but don't really know...).

As much as he wants. My bf one fed every 1.5-2 hours during the day at that age, but my ff one probably every 4 hours (but even when she was bf, I had to wake her every 3 hours to eat as she just generally wasn’t hungry).

@mindutopia my baby seems the same, especially at night, never that hungry... tho they let me know in the day when they are! Did you wait for them to want food or persist with a schedule? And was your baby putting on weight? Doctors seem keen for us to keep to a schedule, but I am not so sure it is the best idea
