Hi, would North Surrey do? Our setup is the same, I'm Scottish, DH is French and our 2 girls (3 years & 4.5 months respectively) have dual nationality!

We speak Franglish at home & the older one understands everything in French but initiates very little. We're heading out to Provence early next year for 3 months to see if we can alter that...

How's your French? And how long has your DP been over here? Mine tells everyone he came for the weather and the food, very few people get it!

Hi frogthistle
Yes, North Surrey is fine! LOL

We speak franglais too. My French isnt too bad, better when I am in france and forced into it.

DH has been away from france for nearly 17yrs, most of that spent in Ireland and then in the UK. I met him and also moved over to Ireland for 10 yrs. So we are both new back in the UK and it would be nice o meet some other people in a similar position. Love the line your DP gives.

Thanks

Hello
Can I revive this thread? I am a French mum to a 6 months old baby boy and we live in Berks. Would be happy to get in touch with other bilingual parents, my husband is British and our son has dual nationality.

I also tell people that i came to UK for the weather, by the way

Hi there, I am a French mum living in Eton with a 4 year old DD and 2 year old DS. They speak mostly English but understand French. They speak French under threat when I catch myself talking too much english to them and I tell them off! It is not easy trying to get the 2 languages level especially after they start school but I am hopeful that they will keep it.

Hi everyone,
I am a French mum too living in Reading in Berkshire with my English partner and our 2 year old daughter. I only speak to her in French and she understands well but English is seriously taking over.
It would be great to meet with other mums in same situation.
