Blankets for newborns

I've been totally overwhelmed by the amount of blankets I've receive as baby gifts, super kind but I don't know what to do with them all! At the moment I'm only using cellular blankets.

So... when/where/how can I use a:

Knitted woollen blanket
Sherpa blanket
Crocheted blanket

FTM here by the way and baby is 4 weeks old.

Thank you x

As a playmat to lay the baby on, on the floor.
To keep them warm in car seats, as they shouldn't wear padded coats whilst strapped in.
As an extra layer on cold days in the pram.

I never use blankets in cots with babies, much safer to have them in a sleeping bag.

Through winter you'll use blankets all the time. Just to lay them on on the floor or sofa while they play or nap at someones house. Over their legs in the pram, car seat, etc

Ah thank you. I'm still learning!

Keep one and use it for a monthly pic. A friend did this - baby in a plain white sleepsuit on the blanket at 1m/2m etc All the way up to 2yo. Same blanket, always a white onesie. Bloody lovely.

Use one for the pushchair. The other for snuggling in a chair at story time.

We used thin muslin types in the pram throughout the summer, and on grass to lay him on outside.
Some on floor as playmat, keep one small one by car seat in car, another is kept in car boot incase needed ( use one you don’t like much), and with winter approaching several in pram depending on how cold.

We don’t use in cot atm, but we will use in winters when he is bigger and using duvet as extra layer.

We did get lots though, baby is only 4 months and I have already rehomed a couple of polyester type ones we won’t use to charity
