Baby shoes help!

Can someone please explain the world of baby shoe sizes to me? I found a conversion chart on next website and measured DD's feet, they came out at a 5.5. I stupidly assumed this would be the same in every shop so went to Asda where she was obviously more like a 3. I'm so confused. Definitely didn't measure wrong as I checked it when I got home! Am I best just going to Clarks and coughing up the money for her first shoes? She's 11 months if this helps.

TIA!

I’d at least get them professionally measured the first time. You don’t have to buy the clarks shoes but go there to get measured.
I bought Clark’s when my LO started to walk, very quickly though moved on to Tu, Next, Nike for the follow up shoes. Shoe sizes in shops, like clothEs is never an exact science

All shoe sizes are shop specific. It is a pain
I ended up having a note in my diary which size my DD was in the different clothes shops

I'd get them measured to start with so you've got an idea of size and fit. My local Sainsbury's had signs up saying you couldn't try shoes on so I think getting the best fit would be hard at the moment!

Is she walking?

Thanks everyone, sounds like I need a trip to Clarks then! Yes, she's just started walking

I’m having this exact problem - Clark’s near me has shut down too so I’m at a loss! Does anywhere else measure for you?

Soubriquet · 02/09/2020 20:12

Yep baby baby shoes, get them properly fitted.

You can buy a measuring gauge to use at home from start rite www.startriteshoes.com/small-infant-measuring-gauge?awaid=3134&utm_medium=banner&utm_source=affiliatewindow&utm_campaign=affiliate&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItuj7h5fL6wIVUuvtCh3Uiw9nEAQYBCABEgLGxvD_BwE&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItuj7h5fL6wIVUuvtCh3Uiw9nEAQYBCABEgLGxvD_BwE .

We've found it very useful rather than having to go in to a shoe shop even pre covid as they grow so fast. However, we have also been in to a proper shoe shop and they are letting you try on shoes, they have a system for quarantining them after you've tried them.
