Elvie breast pump - anyone?

Baby is struggling to maintain a latch and I’m pumping all the time. I have a toddler and I feel like I’m missing out on play time etc with her.

Has anyone used the Elvie? Would it help? It’s a lot of money but will be worth it in our case if it allows me to be up and about a bit more x

I used it, it takes a bit of practise to get used to but you can get stuff done with it on, you just have to be wary it's there as if it gets too full it can leak a bit. I haven't used other pumps so not sure what the suction is like in comparison but it was good for me as long as you position it correctly. You get bra strap lengtheners, so yes I'd recommend! Worth the money if you don't have time to sit around x

I wouldn’t recommend it. I can’t be bothered faffing with it, constantly have to check if it’s filling up or not, only works in certain positions, so just give formula when I need a break from feeding which is damaging my supply. :(

@Sweetpea1989 thank you, this is what I’m wary of as it’s so expensive

It’s great - as pp said you do need to make sure it doesn’t overfill, but it is significantly better than the Medula (the only other one I tried) - both for amount pumped and being able to wander around whilst using.
I exclusively pumped for a few months and don’t think I would have been able to get through it without the Elvie.
Good luck!!!

I’m planning to just rent a hospital grade pump. I’ve heard they are far more efficient than the home pumps. No, you can’t wonder around, but hoping it won’t take much time to pump what I need.

Random tip but if you plan to freeze, check your milk for excess lipase first. I got stung by this last time and had to bin litres of pumped milk. Literally broke my heart Sad

Yes I had it - it's fab! Can't be super active but I can potter about making breakfast etc. dont put the shields in the dishwasher- they warp in the heat. Expensive but I found it totally worth it.
