Co-sleeper cots

Could I ask for your opinions on co-sleeper/next-to-me cribs that you have liked or disliked? I have used a wooden one before (don't remember the brand), but we gave it away after our last baby grew out of it. Unexpectedly pregnant again!

I had the snuzpod and I liked the fact it went up and down different levels. I also liked the fact the cot bit detached from the bed and you could have the baby sleeping around the house. I got it second hand and have lent it to a friend to use.

We had a Chicco next to me which I found useful. DS was a big baby though and outgrew it quickly.

IKEA one, 120cm and works well.

Mylittlesandwich... How quickly did he outgrow it? I tend to have big babies too!

Snuzpod here. Really like it. Was the only one narrow enough to fit in the space!

Ihaveoflate · 29/08/2020 11:39

I bought a second hand next-to-me. It was ok.

Good: legs could go up and down separately so could tilt for reflux; fairly light in weight; good resale value

Bad: awful mattress - ended up using a sleepyhead inside to make it cosier (yes, yes, I know!); seemed vast for a newborn

I have nothing to compare it with though, but I wouldn't rush to use one again.

We’ve got a 3 week old and an ornamental snuzpod. So far he will not sleep in it.

He sleeps really well if we cosleep in the bed, but will not consider sleeping a few inches over in the expensive thing he’s supposed to sleep in.

mylittlesandwich · 29/08/2020 11:56

@Somethingsnappy he was 10lbs 10oz and outgrew it at around 4 months. He's been fine in his cot since then. If I take leave of my senses and have another I'll just go for the cot. It fits in our room anyway.

Thank you, My little sandwich. I've had babies over 10lbs too!

Grin I know the feeling! Although I found they became more happy with the idea as they got a bit older. To begin with, the cot just behaved as a barrier to stop them taking out of bed! Anyone tried the tutti bambini?

Falling out of bed!

We just made a bigger one when DS outgrew the snuzpod at 4 months. Attached a cot bed to our bed with the side off, made sure the mattress was level with out mattress, no gaps etc Smile

That's a great idea. We used a travel cot after they grew out of the co sleeper, but the sides can't be taken off in the same way!

@Somethingsnappy we had the Tutti Bambini and loved it. Could adjust the height and felt a bit bigger than some of the others on offer. Felt a bit emotional when my little boy moved into his big bed and OH put it down. Also made an excellent travel cot especially if the one you have only has the base at the bottom.

uglyface · 29/08/2020 19:42

We had the Tutti Bambini given to us second hand. Was great - particularly like being able to tilt due to reflux - until about 4.5 months when she was disturbed by our snoring and moved into a cot in her room. She always hated co sleeping, so I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it, as she much preferred her own space!

We used a Sleepyhead too, as she kept thrashing about in her sleep due to reflux and causing health visitors to question the bruises! It’s all well and good until they’re nearly two and still won’t relinquish their ‘sleepy’ 🤦🏻‍♀️

Somethingsnappy · 29/08/2020 20:40

Thank you! The tutti bambini does appeal to me. And my husband was excited about the fact it's supposed to be very easy to put up!
