Hello all, FTM here hoping someone can give me some advice!
I’m having difficulty with my 4 week old son over the past few days. I’m just recovering from a very mild cold and noticed yesterday that baby was more snuffly/congested than usual, but he didn’t seem bothered by it. He also had some gurgling at the back of his throat, which I assumed was a post nasal drip. It sounds like he needs to blow his nose and clear his throat! I tried nasal aspiration to see if this cleared anything, but no joy (did get some boogies out, but no difference to congestion noises)
He’s been feeding well (EBF), nappies are fine, no temperatures and he seems well in himself.
This afternoon he’s been having trouble lying even vaguely flat. Every time I put him down, he’s spitting up large volumes within minutes, even though I always wind him and keep him upright for 30 mins post feed and have his crib slanted. He scrunches up and looks like he’s in pain and cries until I pick him up. He settles back to sleep easily once he’s upright.
Do babies get reflux when they have a cold? Will this pass? Does this even sound like reflux?
What can I do tonight to keep him comfortable but also get some sleep myself? (I’m currently having to hold him to make him comfortable)
Any advice much appreciated!
