Safe sleeping rules?

So I have an 11 wk old DD, she sleeps amazingly during the night, one or two wakes depending when we go to sleep. Plenty of naps in the day, is happy and between 50th and 75th centile

But I keep reading that she should be going to bed around 7 and waking at 7 then having 3-4 1 hr to 2.5 hr naps...

  1. how can I put her to bed at 7 safely ( ie in the same room as me) as per lullaby trust at 7pm? I don't eat my dinner til half past! Does anyone really do this at such a young age,

  2. why on earth up at 7? I'm not going to wake her surely! She normally wakes around 8:30 has a feed then naps for another hour maybe.

  3. how many naps and for how long? She sleeps after most big feeds like up to 7 naps a day but all about 30 mins!

Do I need to do something differently?

I would put the books down. There is no "best way" every baby is different. If what your doing is working for you then keep doing it Smile

Mine never went to bed as early as 7pm. Have whatever bedtime suits you. Be guided by your lo as to what naps they need. You might find that as they are awake longer then the naps start to consolidate and/or reduce so there are fewer of them of a longer duration. If you're happy and they are happy why change anything?

You put her to sleep when you want, not by what you have read or by what other people do. I have never in my life put my 2.5 Yr old to bed at 7, the earliest he has gone to bed is 9. My nearly 6 month old has just started to go to bed at 9.30/10 before that he came to bed when I did as he was often sucking away on my breast til late.
Personally I never followed the rules strictly. If I felt the baby was ready for a sleep in his room in the cot, I would put him in there.

Thanks both. I think maybe trouble is she often 7/10 times falls asleep after feeding...

@Ginfilledcats that's not a problem is it?

Ginfilledcats · 23/08/2020 22:48

I don't know @Rubyroost is it not? She feeds every hour and a half so therefore naps little and often!

Maybe I just need to take a chill pill!

@Gibfilledcats that sounds pretty normal for that age. Around 3.5 months the spaces between feeds get bigger. She doesn't need to be in any routine yet. I would be guided by her and she will fall into a routine. My 6 month old naturally wakes just after 8, but I'm trying to enforce sleep as my toddler doesn't wake until 9.30. He's not having it!!! It's obviously his natural wake up time. HE Will SUCCUMB
