Debating starting ttc 7 months post partum

Me and my husband are currently debating starting to try for our second child in the next couple of months..we have a 7 month old daughter. I’d love to hear from people’s experiences of having two children so close in age.

My thinking so far is that the positives are:
-the children may be more likely to have a closer relationship or play together as they are so close in age
-we don’t want to ‘get our lives back / get into the swing of things’ to then go back to the sleepless nights etc in a few years

  • I’m anticipating due to coronavirus holidays and festivals etc we were planning on taking out DD1 along to next year will likely be on hold or id rather avoid next year (hope I’m wrong!) ..so it would be a good time to be pregnant / not really missing anything
  • Our jobs are secure and I can work from home,
Part time 3 days a week which should help in terms of looking after DD1, working and being pregnant

Negatives

  • it will be very hard!! The thought of morning sickness with a young baby and working is not very appealing...my rationale is I don’t think it will be that much easier if I wait until DD1 is 2 (is this way off though?)
  • there’s the risk of catching coronavirus / unknown effects of the fetus. Our current rationale is that coronavirus could be around every year and so far pregnant women don’t seem to be at any greater risk..however pregnancy made me feel quite vulnerable as it is without all this to worry about!

I’m 32 and my husband is 39 so we don’t have ages..my husband in particular is wanting to just crack on!

Any advice from people’s own experience with this would be great! I’m also still breastfeeding and would like to continue until my daughters 1 if I can. My periods have stared again so hopefully that means ovulation has..any experiences with breastfeeding during pregnancy would also be appreciated

You’ve pretty much got the pros and cons nailed

I’ve got 2 DS 18 months apart.

It is tough at times, but easy at others as I was still in the swing of the baby stage.

I don’t think there’s ever a perfect time. Personally I’d go with your gut instinct
