Worried 10 month old not getting enough milk

Since my DS took enthusiastically to solids at around 8 months, I’ve really had to persuade him to keep breastfeeding. Now, at 10 months he’s on 4 feeds which I v much initiate, but apart from the first one of the day which lasts maybe 5 minutes, the other 3 he fusses and pulls away after 30 seconds and is generally a bit of a struggle.

He doesn’t take formula from a bottle or sippy cup. I use cows milk in his morning cereal. He’s 50th centile, sleeps through and is happy...

But I don’t want to stop breastfeeding yet! I fed DD til 14 months and was a lot more relaxing! It feels like he really hates it, which is a bit sad. Anyone else feeding a similar aged baby so little? Is he getting enough calories? Thanks for any advice

I didn’t BF so personally have no experience, but a friend’s EBF baby self weaned from the breast at about that age, as did another friend’s mixed fed baby. My FF baby was down to 2 small bottles at that age and is lactose intolerant so didn’t get a massive amount of dairy in her diet.

If you’re giving a vitamin supplement and he has a balanced diet, I shouldn’t think there’s a problem. I worried about mine not getting enough milk but i think it’s quite common for some baby’s just not to drink it.

He sounds fine, lots of babies on formula are only having two bottles a day. DC3 is the same age and loves food too, morning and night feed are 5 mins then 3 other short feeds too. I thought she was feeding more often than average.

Thanks all. Just nice to have some peace of mind!

This is fine. By 10 months my two were down to 3 feeds and sometimes just 2 a day.

It's ok if he's dropping milk
