School uniform for big busted girl

I know it's not aibu post but putting it here for traffic
I'm struggling to find white school shirts to fit my 12 year old daughter. She is in adult size 12 normally but I've had to send back 3 lots of shirts now as none of them fit her around the beast.
I need to get her measured for a bra properly as she had a really big growth spurt over lock down but no shops near me are doing this yet so it's making it more difficult to find the right fit. She used to wear 34c bras but they don't fit anymore so is living in her sport bras
Any ideas where I can get short sleeved shirts from

All the posters desperate to agree how difficult it is for a normal bra size to fit into a shirt hmm

Ignoring the possibility being raised by PP re the motivation of the original post...

The DD is apparently a 34D, when measured using M&S guide. This means she most likely (knowing their sizing) measures somewhere in the region of 38-39" overbust. Ignoring the fact that she should really be wearing a totally different sized bra, ASOS size chart says a size 12 is 37" bust. So a size 12 shirt could well be tight in the bust on someone of this size.

fmlfmlfmlfm · 17/08/2020 20:58

Well this thread was helpful for me! As someone who has had to wear men's shirts her whole life! 🤣

So the solution is surely to buy a 14 🤷🏻‍♀️

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2020 21:31

No, it's unfortunately not always the solution, because the 14 will be bigger everywhere. If you have a bra size which is disproportionate (in terms of dress size charts) to the rest of you then sizing up just results in clothes which are baggy elsewhere.

In my own case a shirt which is big enough in the bust is generally far too big elsewhere, especially around the shoulders, and tends to just look like a mess.

Purpleartichoke · 17/08/2020 21:33

This is one of the reasons I hate school uniform. They don’t accommodate students with non-standard bodies.

I haven’t been able to wear a button down shirt that wasn’t several sizes too big since I was 13. That means a shirt that hangs off your shoulders and past your hands and gapes at the neck. Less structured clothing can be altered with well placed darts, but a dress shirt is problematic.

Trinketsfor20 · 17/08/2020 21:35

There is of course the possibility, indeed probability that the OP is authentic and no doubt that PP are obviously trying to help.

There is also no doubt that Mumsnet is a forum for parents to support parents.

These sorts of threads, unfortunately, are also ones which generate significant wank fodder. It is just how it is. Even if all is (probably) genuine with the OP and even though PP are all helping - the thread and the vast amounts of discussions here of teenage girls’ bosoms in school uniform is generating excellent wank fodder.

It's a school shirt. You tuck it in anyway.

QueenCT · 17/08/2020 21:47

@premiumshoes when I was at school yes it was tucked in but to fit my chest it was hanging off my neck and shoulders and arms and I looked ridiculous. Mine was pretty extreme though, I had a huge difference between waist/chest being a 32G

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 17/08/2020 22:09

We bought a mix of Asda Plus fit and John Lewis (size by bust size) for my well endowed year 11.

Mumma12345 · 17/08/2020 22:19

I literally just asking for advice on where I can find shirts that actually fit her properly

I live in a a small town with no clothes shops unless you count all the charity 1s and my nearest city is an hour away by train. I'm going to try and order some from the different options here and see what fits best. John Lewis looks the best at the moment
Can someone tell what's the best option to get her a right sized bra as can't get measured at the moment

There was a recent thread about bra sizing where lots of people recommended home measuring and putting measurements into

booborbust.com/

FiremanSpam · 17/08/2020 22:28

These have good reviews

www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Banner-Twin-Pack-Blouse/dp/B00DKYAFGC?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2020 22:37

If you follow the boob or bust calculator linked upthread that should get you pretty close to her correct size. In general her underbust, measured firmly and in inches, would be her band size when measured using the correct method. Every inch between that and the overbust (Boob or bust explains best way to measure this) is a cup size, with the cup alphabet going A, B, C, D,DD,E,F,FF,G,GG and so on in the uk at least.

And tucking in a much too big shirt looks ghastly and doesn't fix the shoulders - like a PP the shoulders are halfway to my elbows!

PoodleJ · 17/08/2020 22:52

Next do a college section which has white blouses in adult women’s sizes.

Being busty us awful as a teen.
I had to had school specific coloured blouses and despite the fact I was s size 8/10 bottom needed a 14 blouse.

Discovering Bravissimo was the best thing that happened to me, age 19!!!

Wotsitsarecheesy · 17/08/2020 23:01

Bravissimo recommended Booborbust.com to me when I couldn't get in. If you phone them with your DDs booborbust measurement they will talk you through different styles that might suit a teenage girl, and advise what size to buy (some brands might come up a bit tighter than others, for instance). They do free returns if anything isn't right. I found them extremely helpful on the phone when shopping for both me and teenage DD.

FiremanSpam · 17/08/2020 23:02

She is lucky to have a mum who realises how much a property fitting uniform and bra matter. I can imagine it is hard on you both trying to get it sorted. Good luck!

madrose · 17/08/2020 23:10

Same issue - we got some shirts from marks and Spencers.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 17/08/2020 23:16

Can't quite believe this thread. I'm 34, size 12 & 34D and zero trouble buying a white shirt from tm lewin plus any number of other high street shops.

Doesnt matter if you live in a small town an hour from a city, there's this marvellous invention called "online shopping".

Summer776 · 18/08/2020 00:20

My DD is also 12 and 34C. Our issue is that the shirt has to buttons up to the neck and long sleeved so a white blouse in a size 12 office wear does not suffice.
The website www.sturdykids.co.uk is useful

randomsabreuse · 18/08/2020 07:43

The issue is that TM Lewin etc (great though they are) don't tend to do tailored women's shirts with collars that take a tie. That is very much a uniform specific thing...

Stressedmammmy · 12/08/2021 02:56

I have a 13 year old daughter with a size 36f chest. She hit puberty at 11 and is a size 12 clothes. She is 5'5 and a healthy weight. I am struggling to find school blouses that will fit her chest size. I am thinking of just buying her polo shirts and explaining to the school that the average blouse doesn't fit her. She doesn't want to be different tho and wants blouses. Does anyone know where I get school blouses that will fit her?
