School uniform for big busted girl

I know it's not aibu post but putting it here for traffic
I'm struggling to find white school shirts to fit my 12 year old daughter. She is in adult size 12 normally but I've had to send back 3 lots of shirts now as none of them fit her around the beast.
I need to get her measured for a bra properly as she had a really big growth spurt over lock down but no shops near me are doing this yet so it's making it more difficult to find the right fit. She used to wear 34c bras but they don't fit anymore so is living in her sport bras
Any ideas where I can get short sleeved shirts from

Posting for traffic you say ?

Sounds like first is a proper sized bra need then a shirt. My 13 year old had to size up on school shirts to stop gaping. In the summer she puts a safety pin through from the backside of the material to make sure. Same with lots of off the shelf tops.
The shirts are darted though so depends on the school uniform supplier. At the moment I'm afraid you just have to measure her yourself, order that size and one either side and find what's comfortable. I just had to do that with 10 year old as can't do it in shops.

BashfulClam · 17/08/2020 17:33

Try the boob or busy site to measure properly. The old way of adding 4 or five inches is outdated but done shops still do it.

@peonyblossom

Also OP, and I mean this in a nice way, is she overweight or just tall and built this way? Size 12 at age 12 sounds quite big, and it would help with the bustiness if she is overweight to lose a few lbs and maintain a healthy weight.

Also coming from someone who could have done with my mother taking control of my diet at that age and making healthy adjustments. If I were a healthy weight through my teens rather than a stone or two overweight then my bust would have been significantly smaller! Feel free to ignore if that's not the case.

That’s absolute nonsense, I was a size twelve when I was 12. I was 5’9” and under 10 stone. I have really wide hips and my waist can be two sizes smaller than my hips which means if I want things to go over my backside I have to buy a big size (bloody waist gapes though)
EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 17/08/2020 18:17

Surely just buy ladies plain white shirts? Or even try a mens short sleeve one.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 17/08/2020 18:25

Size 12 at age 12 sounds quite big

No it doesn't. It absolutely doesn't. Very unhelpful.

YinuCeatleAyru · 17/08/2020 18:32

cheap midi sewing machine £50.
buy one or two sizes too large and shorten the sleeves, and add darts around the waist, to get rid of the excess fabric and fit the blouse to her actual shape. Also add an extra "boob button" between the two that gape (actually a popper is better than an extra button as this will be invisible)

At our DC's school the shirts/blouses have to be of a particular fabric, no shopping around as the stripe needs to be exactly so. only option is to buy large and make alterations if the default shape is wrong.

premiumshoes · 17/08/2020 18:42

There is no need to buy a bloody sewing machine. Women with boobs manage to buy white shirts/blouses every day of the week without resorting to any of that. OP DD doesn't sound anywhere remotely close to needing any special sewing or shirt buying. What a huge over reaction to nothing.

boltzmannbrains · 17/08/2020 18:46

Yet another “tell me stories of underage girls’ giant tits bursting out of their shirt” thread.

Why are they always started by people who clearly have zero idea as to what bra sizes actually mean?

Why do they all have usernames that are Woman’sName or Synonym for Mother followed by a string of random numbers?

Mumma12345 · 17/08/2020 19:21

Only reason I'm asking as I've already ordered 3 lots, 2 from asda 1 from Matalan and they didn't fit around her chest
I'm not going to be going out and buying a sewing machine as I haven't got the money as still on furlough and my dh has had his hours cut by a 1/3
If I have messured her correctly (followed a YouTube vid and double checked on the M&S website) then she is a 34d and as I'm a 36g and most of my family are big chested then no doubt she will still be growing
She is already conscious about her breast size as it out of proportion to the rest of her body so I want to be able to get her a shirt that actually fits without it looking like a tent
Not once did I ask about anyone else's story just advice from where I can get a bigger fit shirt from

34D is hardly extreme. Women with 34D breasts wear normal clothes every day. I can't understand why you are finding it difficult.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 17/08/2020 19:50

@peachgreen GrinGrin

Emmelina · 17/08/2020 19:56

As she’s very tall, too, I’m wondering if somewhere like LongTallSally (are they still around?) would work for blouses.

willotree · 17/08/2020 20:04

I can't imagine finding uniform to fit a 12 year old would be too difficult, some wear school uniform untill they're 18

StatisticallyChallenged · 17/08/2020 20:15

M&S website measurement is completely incorrect. Can you tell me what your DD's measurements are? You want her underbust measured tightly in inches, and her overbust (ideally measured leaning forward but I appreciate most 12 year olds wouldn't play ball with this and the method is less necessary in teens IMO)

If M&S say 34D she is probably more like a 30FF or thereabouts to give you an idea. They use an old method where inches are added. At one point I did a test fit there - I was a 30HH and they tried to put me in a 36F.

I'd also recommend the Bravissimo shirts, but please check her measurements first. You might well find she doesn't need a 12 in their shirts as they are sized by waist and bust - so she might actually size down.

Trinketsfor20 · 17/08/2020 20:19

Wow a thread on the big breasts of a young teenage girl, and the need for school uniform to fit such a body - it must really be such a problem, and plenty of responses too providing lots of engagement.

BikeRunSki · 17/08/2020 20:23

As for the shirts, white shirts/blouses are literally a staple wardrobe item and available in a whole array of sizes. It should not be difficult to find one to fit. Women with boobs wear them all the time.

Actually, at 34F I try not to wear shirts/blouses that button down the front. Bravissimo May account for boobs, but very few accoint for boobs and height. Gap were excellent at one point, but they have stopped doing many tops in their “Tall” size range.

ASOS do a fuller bust range. I normally buy my work shirts from there.

Agree that she won’t be a 34D - M&S had me in a 34DD for years before I got measured properly and I am actually 30GG/32G.

ExtraOnions · 17/08/2020 20:39

My daughter (just going into Year 10) is a 34DD ... went through puberty early, And school shirts have been hard.
Our uniform supplier stocks shirts from a company called Banner - they have extra buttons, in the breast area, so they don’t gap, and they have a bit more space in them. They are very good. She has big boobs, a small waist, and quite big hips ... and skirts have always been the biggest problem.

ExtraOnions · 17/08/2020 20:43

... just to say, it is quite hard to find something suitable. I struggled to find a ladies blouses that buttoned up to the top, to allow for a tie

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 17/08/2020 20:46

Gosh, so many new posters lately having trouble finding school uniform for their large busted young teenagers. It's clearly quite a problem.

Incredible isn't it? and the use of the word bust thrown in too. The Carry On films just called, they want their scripts back.

premiumshoes · 17/08/2020 20:47

All the posters desperate to agree how difficult it is for a normal bra size to fit into a shirt Hmm

ExtraOnions · 17/08/2020 20:52

I am confused at the last couple of comments ? Is the accusation that we are perverts talking about teenage girls?
My daughter went through puberty and 9, and we have had all sorts of problems with uniform ... there aren’t that many suitable white blouses that button up to the top so you can use a tie. The blouses in regular shops don't cater for slim girls who are a DD (like mine) - we have now found a great brand that does - so I shared it with someone... and we are now compared to a Carry on Film.
How odd

Sportsnight · 17/08/2020 20:55

You do seem to be making a mountain out of a couple of molehills. Just go to TM Lewin/ similar office wear supplier and get some normal shirts?
