My DD (age 6) had a play date with a school friend today at our house. They played quite nicely overall. For some time they went off to my DD’s room to play there and had taken dolls etc up so I thought they were playing nicely, I checked on them occasionally but didn’t notice anything untoward.
However, after the play date had ended I saw that toothpaste had been smeared over one of the toys and also that a lot had been squirted down the toilet, wasting about half a tube.
When I asked my DD about it she was in floods of tears and very remorseful but saying her friend had done it but she had obviously joined in too and was feeling very guilty about her behaviour. My DD is very well behaved so something like this is very out of character for her.
I asked my DD if there was anything else I should know about and she confessed that her friend had also gone into my bedroom and into my make up drawer. Her friend had tried on my lipstick but then wiped it off. I only own one lipstick! It’s a very expensive one and is now damaged as the lid had been forced back on without it being wound back down.
I thanked my DD for telling me about what had happened and didn’t tell her off as she was already beside herself crying and just kept saying how sorry she was.
I am not keen on having this little girl over again as I am worried about the sort of things she might do!
Do you think at age 6 this is quite naughty of her friend? Should my DD have stood up to her friend to put a stop to it as she knew it was wrong?
