How can you tell if your baby has colic? My baby had a 6oz bottle at about 9 and then 15mins after had another 2oz of another bottle and has now just had another 2and a half oz. This is so unlike him he would normally only have about 3-4oz every 3 hours never mind 10n half oz In 3 hours😩and he’s just so unsettled he just keeps crying. He’s in his nappy with two fans circulating the room and he just keeps screaming and crying even while having his bottle won’t be put down or anything he’s on gaviscon in his bottles and is on milk for cmpa but he’s getting himself so hot and bothered his temp was 36.8 but he’s bright red and all clammy😩any advice would be nice right now thanks in advance x

Poor thing! Has he pooped?

Fatted · 11/08/2020 00:28

Does he have a dummy? If he's on Gaviscon, it sounds like overfeeding to soothe pain from reflux. The dummy helped with this. Keep him as upright as humanly possible.

My baby was on gaviscon and it made her constipated. Might be that? Agree with the upright comment. Also if possible to have the baby sleep elevated.

It's really hot so it may well just be the hot weather?

He's done two poos today, normal consistency and he doesn't seem constipated😩I think it may be the heat but it's really bothering him he doesn't want to be put down but he's inconsolable, he's just crying and crying and crying, he finally settled about an hour ago and I didn't want to risk going to sleep incase he woke up again crying so I'm now going to go to sleep as he's stayed settled for now! He had another 6oz bottle before he went down but he's still had a 16 and a half oz in the space of 6or so hours which really isn't normal for him😩he normally has a 4oz bottle at 11pm and sleeps till 4am then has another 3-4 oz bottle so he has really really ate an alarmingly high amount of food compared to what he usually has, he's only 8 weeks old xx

@Fatted regarding the dummy, he has a opener with his latch and cannot latch to anything unless it's held there for him, and it's impossible for me to sit there constantly and hold his dummy in for him, as the second I let go of it he really does try to keep it in but his latch isn't strong enough for him to do so and when it falls out it wakes him up and makes him even more unsettled! We've tried to avoid dummy's As much as possible for this reason as we don't want him to get attached to the dummy and want his dummy constantly! He normally only has a dummy if he's really upset whilst waiting for a bottle to cool down xxx
