8 month old won't eat solid food

My DS has just turned 8 months and solid food is a struggle. He doesn't like being spoonfed and will use all his strength to keep the spoon away from his face. He likes playing with finger food and will smush things in his hand and take them towards his mouth but then throws them on the floor without even trying it. He has had odd occasions since we started weaning where he will eat something, but then won't have it again - e.g. I made some cheese and broccoli scones, the first time he absolutely loved it, sat and ate almost a whole one. I've made them four times since and he won't even put a bit to his lips. The only thing he will consistently eat are those Ella's kitchen melty puffs.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get him enjoying his food?

For now just let him play with it. He's still young enough that he's getting everything he needs from milk.

At this point it is all new for him and he needs time to explore the new textures, smells etc. Don't worry about him actually eating things he'll get there.

Also, try and eat at the same time as him. If he is seeing you eat then he'll get the hang of it.

Hi OP
I am in the same position as you with a 8 month old that doesn't like solids so I was just wondering how your little one is going and what ended up working for you?
Thanks in advance!

Mine were all breastfed and didn't care for solids closer to 11-12 months.
