Breast or formula? Also stupid question but based on a previous thread , physically how are you burping him ( ie position of his body on yours and pats or rubs or combination and cycling of legs to help wind or not?

@LouiseTrees hes bottle fed on aptimal milk and i try burping in all positions sitting on lap on my shoulder and lying him on my knees but he just screams in pain I am sure he has colic issues but not sure what to so to help him

Try arms up over your shoulder and legs straight down when you burp him.

@NishaaS123 we had the same problem. She couldnt burp. We tried aptamil comfort and that worked for us. She started burping and farting which she could never do! We used it for 3 months and went back to normal aptamil.

Kitkat05 · 08/08/2020 20:23

I used to spend 40 mins up to an hour trying to burp her. With aptamil comfort she used to burp within 5 mins.

Have you tried Infacol? It helps them bring up burps easier.
Also, stop to burp him at least twice through a feed then at the end too, don’t continue to feed until he’s burped. I found ‘sitting’ him on my lap my hand holding the head up under his chin while rubbing his back helped. Even just changing position while trying to burp seems to help release it.

Tiger in the tree hold is the only one that works with my DD, it's worth a google and is quite comfortable to sit with her in as she doesn't thrash about like she does on my chest.

Sorry meant colief not infacol! Also, mam bottles are good.

Might not just be related to wind Op. could be Cows milk allergy and / or silent reflux.

Our DD would scream for 3 hours after every feed (so basically from one feed to next) until we switched her to Hydrolized milk (Nutramigen 1 is one brand) and started her on reflux meds, she was a different baby.

Get in touch with your Dr and keep insisting until you feel happy. The longer both go untreated the more oesophageal damage can occur. It's not normal for babies to scream for hours, despite what most Drs will say. Thanks as it's really tough!

My DD was the same, used to scream for hours until she'd done a dreadful, runny poo and then would fall asleep. I changed her formula from Cow & Gate to SMA and she was a dream afterwards.
