Feeding all day?!

Probably stupid question, but my 11 week old breastfed DD feeds all day long, and I mean all day non stop. I think the longest I’ve ever managed to get her to last is an hour or on the carry rare occasion she is asleep. She sleeps well at night and I normally get woken twice, but the all day cluster feeding is driving me mad. Is this normal for bf babies? Is it normal for 11 week olds? When will it get more spaced out?

If she’s sleeping well at night, she’s got to get her nutrition in somewhere! It’s also very hot at the moment, so she will need more liquid. I think for my DD feeds got much shorter at about 4 months, but it wasn’t a sudden thing, it was just as her tummy got bigger I think. She was still feeding at the same frequency, but much less total time as a feed took about 15 mins rather than an hour or more.

Most babies I know don’t feed this much during the day at this age but they feed loads over night. Eventually they become super efficient feeders.

It could be normal for your DD. Mine was very much the same. Honestly I just learnt to live with it and rolled my eyes when people asked me "again, really?!".
