Comfort feeding newborn with gas

My baby is 9 days old and BF, I have been having problems with him getting gas unless I feed him in a lying back position. When he has gas, he cries nonstop - then wants to comfort feed. Should I comfort feed him at this point or not? Just worried about making things even worse if he takes on even more gas or his belly becomes super full. He is doing about 5-6 poos a day and 8-10 wees which seems like a lot! Anyone have any advice?

Congratulations Flowers

My baby pooped constantly as a newborn. I think this is fairly normal, but from my experience, I closely monitored every nappy as I felt something wasn't quite right!
I started to notice mucus. Baby was gassy, wanted to feed constantly and comfort feed.
Turned out baby MIGHT have cows milk protein allergy and ws displaying symptoms such as silent reflux, mucus in nappy, bad skin, gas etc. I'm not suggesting this is the case for you, but keep this in mind. I wish I knew about it before !

In the meantime, have you tried burping baby a few times during feed? I found that jiggling baby and patting back just made it worse. I put baby over shoulder and hold their bum and move it in circular motions, and huge burp would normally come out!
