Baby’s first cold

So DS is 4 months and is getting his first cold.

Dad and I have it (not covid, we’ve both been tested).

How/what do I do to help DS with the congestion/cough etc?

FTM during lockdown, and of course weve been exposed to very little in the way of germs! Otherwise I’m sure we’d be confident with baby colds by now!

We have sterimar spray from his early days and have calpol in the house

Thanks :)

Calpol vapour plug is great and saline drops to help with congestion are good. Also snuffle babe on the bottom of their feet for some reason is supposed to help.

-Snufflebabe
-Saline drops are the gift of the gods
-Cot titled up

But unfortunately, not much else. They look/sound much worse than they actually are. I laugh now when I look back at the fuss I used to make over a cold when DS was small

Im going through this and am just coming out the other side of it (I hope). I found the calpol plug really helpful, and second tilting the cot. Ive put books under the head end of the cot so its slightly tlited. Thats worked really well. Ive also got a cool mist air humidfier which has helped. Saline drops would have worked well at the colds worst, but I think I missed the boat a bit on that. I used calpol to alleviate discomfort that the congestion was causing, which worked well.

Despite all of this feeding is still a nightmare, and sleep is a bit disrupted. I dont think theres anything else to do but wait it out though. Before this I never appreciated just how helpful being able to blow your nose was...!
