Baby morning nap

I have been working on my 16 week old's nap. He used to only take 35 min naps but now he is having much longer naps. His morning nap can now be 2 hours long. Is this too long for a morning nap? Some websites say the morning nap should be only an hour and the lunch nap should be longer.

I am of the view that it's easier to just go with your baby rather than recommendations from people who don't know you or your baby such as website authors. The only time you need to change if it's not working.

My baby naps for 45 minutes over the course of the day (7 months). Websites say she should nap more but I can't make her so I just ignore them!

Another vote for ignoring template routines. I tried to impose one on my baby but he just ended up really grumpy.

My sons 20 weeks and has 3/4 naps. They're all about 30mins long. If im lucky he'll nap for an hour at some point in the day. Tbh I just let him do what he needs to do.

Respond to your baby not an imaginary 'text book' version would also be my advice.

Mine took her longest nap in the morning until quite recently. I tried to change it at 8 months by cutting it short - didn't work, so I decided to just go with it. She is 1 now and has a text book nap routine (40 mins in morning, 1.5-2 hrs afternoon) but she got there all by herself.

Going against the grain - schedules work really well for my 7MO baby and me. He has 30 mins in the morning and 2 hours at lunchtime, and sleeps 7-7 overnight. Why not try both approaches and see which works best for you?
