toilet seats and boys

hi,
we have bought a nice padded toilet seat for our little ds (he is 2)and he is just getting used to sitting on his seat (wont touch potty) whilst the bath is running.

Past couple of days, he has been weeing in the loo, so we're delighted, but the wee is obviously spraying forward, as the area infront of him is very small, and if we tell him to push his willy down, it puts him off and he stops weeing.

Dont know if perhaps the guard is interfering. Either way there's lots on floor and not much in the loo.
Should I just transfer him to our toilet seat? (he was scared when we first tried)

We bought Ds the mothercare boys (well it was blue)toilet seat as it had a high front which kept willy nicely tucked behind to prevent sprays. Also made sure his legs were wide enough for it to dangle into the hole. Didn't have a flatter seat until he went to nan's house and was sharing with cousin (a girl) and I know mum said she got covered a few times. Don't know whether that has helped or not.

thanks flowerfairy - not sure if mine is a boys or girls one, from mothercare, winnie the pooh...with handles.
