do you think there would be much mileage in opening a cloth nappy shop?

dp says he thinks not. that 'niche retail has in some ways been saved by the internet, but also killed by it'. that id be mad to take on a shop and premises and the hours / staff / stocktaking involved...

but i reckon it would be brilliant to have an emporium of cloth, where you could go and see and feel and touch and talk about and be advised on all the different types and sorts...

could also do all the outdoorsy stuff you only seem to be able to get online, like waterproof dungerees etc (i love all that stuff too)

and perhaps do second hand exchange sort of service on the nappies too...

what does everyone think?

would it only work in london, or not at all?

hmm, thanks pesto.

hunker, have emailed you

yes ladymuck, no doubt they will... i still havent seen anyone online or otherwise who does a really broad, or anywhere near comprehensive selection of brands/types etc... i think that would be my hook.

but what the f do i know about business?? i was top of my class on a btec national in it about 14 years ago at islington 6th form, but is that enough to know anything much about anything?? and i only did the first year too [dropout loser]

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 18:21

thats interesting bobsmum. hadnt thought of laundering. suppose its not too wild to imagine teaming up witha launderette or something

pesto1 · 02/10/2007 18:30

thats ok

we have a HUGE range of nappies, lots of sizes, huge range of wraps etc,... but we only stock nappies that are good and we know will work well.

we also do a lot of in store demos, they tend to take over an hour each, but 99% of the time the customer will buy from us, and spend over £250. so its worth the time.

knowing this, id say you would need more than one shop staff.

Eek bobsmum, I can't believe that every time I have driven by Springkerse Ind Estate there's been a nappy shop there all along!!
DS just in night nappies now though. Oh well DH will give a sigh of relief anyway!!

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 20:46

I want a shop!!!!

I would love the dream of all the nappies etc I'd love to just be able to stock all of the nappies I want to, but tis always the same issue = money

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 20:49

maybe i should just invest in you eh flame? that way, you could expand product lines, we could get the bus/van maybe... you could run it, teach me and i could help out a few days a week... what do you think??

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 20:50

you could run the business i mean, not just the bus!

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 20:59

Heaven! Spending someone else's money on stock

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 20:59

I do like the nappy bus plan - can we paint it like a nappy mystery machine??

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 21:03

oh i really think we ought, dont you? or perhaps the A-team van... no, the mystery machine is better... we could have the bumfluff nappiesgalore logo on the side with a big fluffy bum stuck on the back...

im getting carried away now arent i?

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 21:04

pmsl

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 21:04

Bumfluff (co name) with nappies galore as slogan underneath, just so its clear were not just being rude for the sake of it

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 21:05

Only just noticed your name change

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 21:06

so, how much equity of bumfluff would you sell? and for how much? hmmm? i need figures before i go an hassle dp 50% would be good for me!

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 21:06

yes, name change is subtle and clever, eh? most out of character

Flamesparrow · 02/10/2007 21:07

Hmmm... 50% of a non-profit making business... doesn't that work out that I owe you money?

NappiesLaGore · 02/10/2007 21:17

good grief, is that true? hmmm. i gotta tell ya, tis gonna be hard to sell the idea to dp if thats the case!

yellowfrin · 02/10/2007 23:01
