How long can I leave 2 week old between feeds?

As above. I was told when she was first born to feed her every 3 hours due to jaundice. Nows she's over that and above birth weight, how long should i leave her before waking her for a feed?

During the day I still wouldn't go too much more than 3 hours between feeds. Maybe 4 max

ShyTown · 27/07/2020 17:50

During the day I’d do 4 hours max providing she fed well at the last feed and her weight gain is good.

Fatted · 27/07/2020 17:50

Usual advice is 3-4 hours during the day.

Once mine were a couple of weeks old and “demanding” feeds, I fed every 3 hours max in the day and left them as long as they wanted at night.

SandieCheeks · 27/07/2020 17:52

The more milk they have in the day the less they need at night ime!

Lockdownseperation · 27/07/2020 17:53

Bf or ff?

If bf I would try and not to go much longer than 3 hours during the day in the hope they sleep more at night.

Magic13 · 27/07/2020 18:00

She's ff.

I ff DD1. I fed her very 3 hours if she didn’t ask for more. Never let it go over 3 hours. Her weight gain was good so after 3 weeks I let her sleep as long as she wanted at night and fed every 3 hours in the day (more if she wanted).
6am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm then bed, dream feed at 11pm. She would wake at about 3/4am for a feed but gradually that stopped and she slept through from 12 weeks.

BF DD2 on the other hand.... 😩

I honestly couldn't predict. I breastfeed, feeding was on demand. she could go a few hours but if having a growth spurt could be near constant, thoughout 0-6 months.

I ended up having to formula fed my son sadly, but I still did demand feeding.

Looking at his feeding book (sad I know but I like to keep track) he had 2 to 4 oz every 2 to 3 hours from 2 to 6 weeks, then went to 4 to 6 oz every 4 hours roughly.

He's 6.5 months now and has 6 to 8 oz 4 to 5 times a day, but also has breakfast, dinner and little food tastes throughout the day.

Magic13 · 27/07/2020 18:42

She's drinking between 2-4 oz every 2-4 hours currently.

Sounds about right, each baby is different so really hard to say what they should have and when.

I'd just feed when she indicates she's hungry, they grow so so quick on the new born stage so guzzle milk 😂.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 27/07/2020 19:44

No more than 4 hours I would say.

Footlooseandfancy · 27/07/2020 20:26

1.5 - 2hrs in Dd's case. 3 hours would have been a dream, 4 hours and I would have assumed something was wrong
