5 1/2 month old twins not ready for high chair?

I've been starting to think about starting solids for my twins, as they will be 6 months old in early August. But there's no way they would be ready for a high chair yet. They can hold their heads up, but are still very wobbly! I prop them up with cushions but they are very slumped and don't sit straight. Is this normal, should I be worried?? They were born a month early so perhaps I am expecting too much...

I'd say this is normal. There are lots of high chairs with extra support or you can buy extra cushions for some of them

I think that is normal... At 6 months mine had been sitting unaided for just over a month, but he was "advanced" in that area. He was also just under a month early.

I remember when we got a high chair he barely poked his head over the tray table Grin We didn't use it at the start because he was too small and just fed him sat on our knee. In the first month or so you'll be just doing little tastes rather than "meals" (or at least that's what we found) so it all feels a bit anti climatic.

Sounds normal. We delayed weaning until 6.5 months because DS was too wobbly in the high chair (we did BLW so particularly important that they are able to sit up properly).

My boy was the same, he was ready for solids but couldnt sit up in a high chair without slumping. We had a rocker that had a stablising leg that we used instead until he got strong enough. Didnt take long

Mine was born at 39 weeks but a bit late with sitting - 8 months. We had the baby Björn high chair which gave him lots of support but my friend started weaning whilst the baba sat in the rocker.

If you feel like they're too young still, you could delay it a bit. We did BLW and it wasn't before he was about 8 months that he ate a bit more.
