What’s going on with DD?

My DD (8 weeks) was always so happy and smiley and a really quite easy baby, until about 2 weeks ago when she would have the odd night of random crying/screaming. It normally starts at 6pm and doesn’t last too long; but last night she screamed and screamed until midnight and nothing would stop her. She wouldn’t feed, wouldn’t sleep, just screamed. There’s nothing wrong that I can see or determine, so what’s going on? I thought it could be colic but it isn’t every evening and sometimes doesn’t last very long (last night was horrendous and something I hope isn’t repeated). Any thoughts? And will it get better? She only started doing this about 2 weeks ago.

Google Purple Crying
My son was the same started at 4 weeks old, peaked about 7 weeks and started getting better at 10 or 11 weeks. It was not fun!

It sounds like the witching hour to me. Mine had this too and it stopped after a few weeks. In hindsight, I think he was probably overtired as he had stopped falling asleep during the day and I hadn’t realised I needed to help him nap. Could your baby be tired?

We had the same, it did my head in. Not sure if it was overtired or just the above things. It was really really hard, it had no trigger and no end. He was not hungry, thirsty, in pain, nothing was different and we were clueless and very tired and baffled by his odd behaviour.

Went away on its own at about 16 weeks (not sure if this was the info you were looking for...). We did not change a thing, it just stopped.
