When did your child master using a sippy cup?

Trying to introduce a sippy cup to my 12 month old for water and juice in between meals and just wondered how long it took your child to master it? Smile

The tommee tipper one? My 7 month old can drink from it if I help her top as it's a bit heavy. I wouldn't give juice from it though due to the impact on teeth

My 1yo flatly refuses a sippy cup but will happily drink from a Munchkin 360.

I would say maybe around 14 months with my oldest, and my younger one found it much easier so probably more like 11 months or so. Really it's very normal for them to not get the hang of it until 12+ months.

7 months, although now she likes to pour her drink out and splash in it. Children don’t need juice.

Is your child bf at the minute? I guess my DS needed help for the first 4 weeks or so I think at 6 months, but has been drinking from one independently for 8 weeks I guess, he's just over 10 months now. I don't think it'd take that long for them to master it at a year

DS is 13 months and uses sippy cups that have valves on them. If they’re free flowing he just pours it everywhere!

If I recall, dd was just over a year when she got the hang of them too.

7 months. He has absolutely mastered it - can blow bubbles, gargle water, and waters his toys with surprising accuracy. He occassionally takes the odd sip too Grin

5-6 months with the two handles Tommy- just for water though.

Both of my children were 6 months.

Straw cup about 12 months, he had it from 6 months but would just spit it out.

he has just started with a 360 cup, 18 months.

Mine didn't really crack it till he went to nursery at 13 months and saw the other kids drinking out of it. We introduced it at 6 months. He's always been slow drinking out of it though - he could drain a 9oz bottle in 10 minutes flat, but will take a couple of hours to drink a 6oz tommee tippe freeflow cup.

He's now getting good at drinking from an open cup, which he much prefers.

Depends what you mean by cracked it! My DS can drink out of his, but prefers to pour it everywhere. He flat out refuses it between meals
