8 week vaccinations

I’m dreading my 8 week old’s first vaccines on Tuesday. Especially having read horror stories of terrible reactions - high fevers, vomiting, allergic reactions etc. How did it go with your LO?

It was fine. Calpol and breastfeeding sorted everything out.

My DS was ok, a little hot, sleepy and just wanted cuddles for a few days so we followed the advice for giving calpol and let him rest and cuddle. He (and I) both cried during, it's not very nice. But it's over quickly, lots of cuddles and breastfeeds if you are breast feeding.

No problems with any of my three DC, OP. Hope it all goes smoothly for yours!

No problems at all. Gave some calpol as advised before 1 injection, baby had a good nap and woke up in a lovely mood. Barely a mark. Same for both of mine.

With my two you'd never even have known they'd had them. I have lots of friends with babies/preschoolers and only know one who got a really high temp. Most ranged from totally fine like mine to a bit hot and grumpy for a couple of hours. Hope it all goes well.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/07/2020 12:52

Ever so slightly grumpy the day after, but calpol fixed it. If anything my son was sleepier so it was quite nice!

Ginfordinner · 19/07/2020 12:57

Don't worry. It will be fine. Make sure you have some Calpol on standby.

The vast majority of babies don't have any reactions, and having the vaccinations is far preferable to the alternative.

Dexy2020 · 19/07/2020 16:27

My little boy had no reaction at all you would never no he had them, we just gave the 3 doses of calpol as advised post injections and that was it really, he cried with the 1st and 2nd lot of injections which he soon got over and didn't make a murmer with the 3rd lot bless him, good luck! Hope your little one gets on OK x

Grumpy afternoon and then a LONG sleep, spotless the next day.
