Paracetamol for constipation pain

My 3.5yo gets constipated on and off when he does we give him cosmocol. He's had 6 sachets of that today on doctors advice but he's still in pain and won't do anything apart from lay on the sofa. Would you give him calpol? I normally only give that for temperatures but he's really struggling.

Can he have ibuprofen? If so I’d suggest giving that for pain - paracetamol can make constipation worse.

You have my sympathy, a constipated child is difficult to handle! I can’t believe 6 sachets hasn’t shifted it, poor kid!
