I feel awful

Hi everyone please can someone reassure me. Yesterday afternoon my little one {five months} was sitting with her back propped up on the sofa watching the tv while I took my medication , also sitting on the sofa. Within seconds my little one had wriggled and had fallen off the sofa onto carpet. Little one fell backwards and cried for about a minute while I comforted them. I have monitored her since yesterday afternoon. She hasn’t vomited and seems like her normal self . I have examined her and she isn’t crying at any particular part of her body and I can’t see anything concerning . Please tell me I am not the only
One this has happened to as I feel awful .

Your definitely not the first. Do a MN search on babies falling off beds and sofas and you'll find loads of threads.

My DS fell off the sofa about the same age. Looked away for a second. He's fine, now 9 months, and constantly falling over with learning to climb the furniture. When he went off the sofa and I panicked, the response off all my friends was simply "welcome to the club". Happens to us all. As long as LO is ok just plenty cuddles and not too much beating yourself up

Don't feel too bad. At least she's ok and you will take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again (as best you can anyway!)

My daughter fell off the bed around that age, didn't phase her! I was more upset... she's 13 months now and has at least one bump a day trying to walk HmmConfused

In all honesty, I’m about the only parent I know who hasn’t had this happen - and I put that down to sheer luck!

We’ve all been there! I remember this happening to my son when he was a baby. I frantically phoned the doctors who asked me to bring him in to check him over. He was absolutely fine, I was more upset than him.
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one!
