Baby sunglasses - started shaking

So I'm sure it's nothing serious, but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this with their babies and if it had calmed down!

My uncle (a dispensing optician) sent me some sunglasses for my 7 month old. I put them on her earlier outside and she seemed pretty happy with them.

Then later today I put them on her again to show my mum and her hands started really shaking and she took them off immediately - I appreciate a 7 mo old will take glasses off because FUN - but her reaction worries me a bit. I assume it was a bit darker when I tried the second time and so she couldn't see very well and it scared her, but she didn't cry, whinge, screw up her face... her hands just started shaking something chronic.

Has anyone else experienced this?

FTM as if you hadn't guessed...... 🙄😂

If i were you I'd just tie a hat on her or put the pram shade down. No idea about the shaking hands but sunglasses on a baby seems unnecessary and like a recipe for constant bending down and picking up.

It probably scared her. My DC used to scared of their own farts when they were babies.

@Somethingorotherorother well yes I was thinking that too! I was wondering about those stretchy things that go round the back of her head to keep the glasses on but I do wonder if a wide brimmed hat would just be a better shout.
To be clear, he sent them in advance of a holiday we have planned (COVID dependant of course) to the south of France in mid August so she will be 8 months then and the sun will be stronger.

@Fatted hahaha - that made me laugh! Yes I assume that's what happened - just weird that earlier on she was fine. I suppose it was just the change of light though.

There will be so few babies wearing sunglasses for a reason, they don't like them. Small gazebo, good parasol for the pram etc have worked for years

SillyBub · 16/07/2020 20:16

She was just freaked out, that's all. Stick to the sunhat and keeping her out the sun as much as possible and try them again periodically.

She will undoubtedly become obsessed with them and refuse to not wear them, including to bed, when it comes to the cold, dark winter Grin

I wouldn't put sunglasses on a baby. I don't think it's fair when they are only just learning to interpret what they see to begin with. The hand shaking does seem a bit odd. I would wait and see if she does it in response to anything else.
