Sleeping Troubles

DD is 17 weeks old and her sleep is all over the place. Some nights she sleeps eight hours uninterrupted while others she only sleeps five to six hours in broken chunks.

For the past few nights it has been the latter and I'm not sure what's going on. Her naps have been hard to establish ever since she was six weeks and it's getting worse not better.

I try everything from rocking, to walking around the room with her and putting her down when she's drowsy or yawning but she tends to come awake again almost straight away.

DH thinks this is just her way and that I'm trying too hard and looking for a solution for everything that's going wrong but I know her sleep is vital for her development.

Feeling hopes and like a useless mum.

You're in sleep regression territory, but at 17 weeks sleeping for long spells isn't really expected. Even without regressions.

Mine didn't sleep for longer than 3 hours at a time at that age, and is still a crap sleeper now. At 2.5 I can count on one hand the number of times he's slept through.
