How to motivate kids for outdoor time!

I seem to really struggle to get my children out doors! Since lockdown they've become really lazy.

I do try but it's always such a drama, I try bribery, also threaten to stop devices and it works but then it makes going out not enjoyable 🙄

We recently got a dog which helps slightly, but I feel like they're missing out.

Any tips? TIA

How old are they? What do you have in the way of a garden?

Mine are the same. But when they're out they enjoy it. I'm just tough with them and ignore the protests. The best idea is get them appropriately dressed for the weather after breakfast. Then all they need to do is put shoes on and coat if needed. Otherwise it's a whole other battle getting them to get changed into outdoor clothes, then out. Mine have a choice of bike ride or walk.

And we sometimes go geocaching, try that!

They are 8 & 10.
We do have a large back garden, and they have swings.

I get their clothes out and then after lots of whinging and complaining, I have got them out but just wish it wasn't always a battle!

I'll have a look at Geocaching!

When they're at school, they are very sporty and 4 / 5 days is something sports related.

Perhaps say no devices until they have gone out for play/exercise. That is the reason we ban tv or any electronics before 5pm on week day and noon the weekend. It gets them outside and being creative when they aren’t out. They usually complain and say they don’t want to . But sometimes I get them excited. Once they are out they have fun. It’s just getting them out the door!
