Help! DD just ate a dead moth

DD is 13 months and I'm pretty certain she just ate a dead moth. It was on the floor in a corner, I noticed it earlier, I was in the middle of something at the time and meant to get it after but completely forgot to pick it up (so stupid I know!) well DD was sitting in the corner munching on something and looking very pleased with herself and the dead moth has gone. I tried to get her to open her mouth but she swallowed, it was a big moth too! Should I panic? Should I call the doctor? I have no idea if I should be laughing or crying!

Kids are bonkers. I’m fairly certain it will do her absolutely no harm but eeeeeek!

IlanaWexler · 03/07/2020 11:13

She'll be absolutely fine & it won't be the last gross thing she eats haha

Mrsjayy · 03/07/2020 11:15

Oh dear she will have mothy burps all day Grin I'm sure she will be fine yuck though.

It’s fine. They’re sometimes in fresh apples too. Consider it a bit of extra protein and try to forget about it.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 03/07/2020 11:21

Bit of protein Grin

crosser62 · 03/07/2020 11:25

You really really do not need to phone the Dr, really.

There’s literally nothing toxic about a moth, you could ring 111 who could check on toxbase but without knowing what moth (could be one of bloody hundreds) there’s no way of knowing.
She will be ok.

IlanaWexler · 03/07/2020 11:26

They keep us on our toes eh? I found DS eating random berries from bush the other day! I freaked out and spent ages googling what they were and whether they were poisonous (they weren't, he's fine).

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/07/2020 11:27

Other than yuk, she be fine. Kids will eat anything if they could.

mommabear26 · 03/07/2020 11:30

Thank you all so much for the replies, I'm still reeling and a little nauseous but feeling less panicked. I searched her mouth much to her protests and found a bit of the moth in there 🤢 she's a big snacker but this is a whole new ball game!

OP posts:
vodkaredbullgirl · 03/07/2020 11:33

Wait for the worm eating and eating flies, sorry not much help here lol

Mrsjayy · 03/07/2020 11:33

"She is a big snacker"Grin

Mrsjayy · 03/07/2020 11:34

She might be sick but worry too much if she is.

Somethingsnappy · 03/07/2020 11:44

Moths are eaten by birds and other animals too.....she'll be absolutely fine! At least she enjoyed it from the sound of things! Wink

notthemum · 03/07/2020 11:56

😂😂😂 So sorry OP. But this has really brightened my morning. I promise you she doesn't need a doctor, she will be fine. But yeuch 😂😂

InkieNecro · 03/07/2020 11:57

My brother stuck his hand in his nappy and ate his own poo, he also ate live woodlice. It could be worse!

badg3r · 03/07/2020 11:57

Bleargh. Kids are so disgusting sometimes! My brother did the same with an alive moth when we were kids then spat it out all over the bathroom window. He was fine but 30 years later I am still suffering the psychological damage 😂 I'm sure your DC will be absolutely fine too!

WhatCFeryIsThis · 03/07/2020 11:58

Oh boy will this be a story to tell her when she's older Grin

safariboot · 03/07/2020 12:00

Just make sure she doesn't start climbing a ladder to get to the light Grin

I don't think any moths in Britain are poisonous.

Plancina · 03/07/2020 12:02

My brother also ate his own poo and several handful of ants 😂

I read this as dead mouse ShockShock

mummmy2017 · 03/07/2020 12:04

A lot of things that we shouldn't eat see to have a coating that makes us sick, so don't worry this time, my sister used to eat live worms.

ursuslemonade · 03/07/2020 12:08

I've found my dd crunching on a snail shell. Well I hope it was only the shell...

AudacityOfHope · 03/07/2020 12:09

My son ate a scab off the floor of a doctor's office and survived EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy
