Ok mum made me a wool soaker and I've lanolised it and tried it out last night (was that a bit mental to try it at night?). Anyway, it leaked a bit, in that grobag was damp.

Is that because it was the first time (i.e. only lanolised once)? or have I done something wrong?

Should I now re-lanolise it or use it a few times before lanolising again?

Also, can I was them with baby bath (did I read that somewhere?) or do I have to use olive soap?

how did you lanolise? Might be worth re-doing it as it's new and then try it out in the day to make sure it's nice and waterproof.

I've only ever used olive soap for mine, but like you I do recall something about baby bath

I wash mine with normal hand wash liquid so baby bath should be ok. It may have leaked a little because when using a grobag babies tend to stay in the same position so the pressure on the wrap will be in the same place all night causing a bit of wicking, like having a tight fitting babygrow on over the top of a wool wrap. You could try to re lanolise it, Flame says that if it goes sticky from over lanolising then it will just wear off......I am a lanolising slob and do it very rarely!

I used pure lanolin (dissolved in boiling water with a squirt of baby bath so it emulsified) then added to some more water so it was about baby's bath temp and just covered the soaker iyswim. Left it overnight.

hmm, know what you mean I am stuck with window shopping at the moment as have had to buy a new car

fingerwoman · 26/09/2007 21:45

sounds like it should have been ok then. as curlywurly said though may have been a compression thing.

nappynuttynormabutty · 26/09/2007 21:45

Oh about the car. I might be ordering next week tho...my mum owes me for some stuff I bought for her online so will have some money when they visit next week. Have already got a couple of bits picked out

Thanks fingerwoman. I might try her with sheets then rather than a grobag next time too. Will give it a go during the daytime, tho only being 5 1/2 months I'll prob still have the compression issue .

I shouldn't be about a new car really should I? I blame the hormones

Will look out for your order
