OMG help please ;(

Ok so I really don't want people to hate on me for this but my 7 month old has just managed to fall off the sofa !😳 so my sofa reclines and he always sits in his little ring cushion and he's never fallen or even able to roll out of it . So literally I leave him to go to the toilet which is next door to my living room and I just hear this "thud" as you can imagine my heart just sank because I just new exactly what it was with that I belt from the toilet and there he is just on the floor crying and screaming of course ! I honestly have never felt so mortified in my life I cried with him . Checked him over and he wasn't bleeding just a little red mark on his fore head and he was back to himself about 5 minutes afterwards . I'm just wondering anyone else been through this? Should I be concerned? My sofa is about 1ft off the ground and he landed on carpet. Can anyone just reassure me that I'm not the only parent to do this 😔 honestly can't stop thinking about it .

Dont stress, he cried immediately and isn't in pain now or acting differently, sure he will be fine. It knocks you sick though I know. My ds fell backwards off a wall about 3 ft when he was 12 months old.... he was fine, these things happen. Just put him somewhere else from now on when leaving room

This happened with my oldest when she was about the same age. She was absolutely fine. You're not the first mum this has happened to and you won't be the last but I would take her to get checked over just in case.

He'll be fine. Probably cried more from shock than pain.

I can't even remember how many times my dd fell off things! She was always fine.
I started to leave her on the floor if I needed to do anything and then she started crawling. Lol you need eyes in your backside!

he will be fine. both mine fell from more height than that in their first year and both are 100% fine.

When my youngest fell from sitting on my shoulders, I took her to A&E because 111 said if a child falls from more than the height of the child, it might be worth checking up. so I sat in A&E for 5 hours with a hungry grumpy child (wasn't allowed to leave to get food) for intermittent observations. And then I was allowed home again because there was nothing wrong with her. But I reckon that time in A&E is the penance for foolish mothers.

Ah you feel bad and worried just now but after they've fallen another 10 times or so it will get better. Happens to all!

Even now I can acutely feel exactly what you do now. It was 17 years ago.

Go to bed and stop worrying!! I have three children who are all adults now and they all rolled off a bed , chair ,sofa at sometime in their babyhood ...they are all absolutely fine !!

My Dad dropped me out of a Moses basket and I fell on driveway, 38 years later I'm still here to tell the tale x

I don't have children myself, but I still remember with horror the time when my niece rolled off my knee and landed on the floor .

She'd been wrapped in a sort of satin blanket, and as I felt her slipping I grabbed the blanket and not the baby. Thankfully my legs were out so she did just gently roll, unravelling until she landed, but OMG I felt awful.

No damage done, thankfully, and she's in her 30s now and even let me hold her children when they were babies!

Dropped both my kids. I felt awful both times. They are both fine.

Ha! At 8 months I managed to push off the kitchen surface while being cleaned up, out of mum's grip and managed to go head first onto the concrete floor. I'm fiiiiiiiine. Chill.

If it makes you feel any better I got drunk once on not much alcohol at all and while trying to get to bed I managed to knock the Moses basket over.

I was absolutely mortified, didn't drink for almost a year after that!

This has happened to every parent, in one way or another. I promise your baby is perfectly fine!

I'm convinced that babies are designed to be a bit bounceable because nature knows that we're not superheroes - try not to worry about it

(But that didn't stop me leaving a trail of piss from the en-suite toilet to the side of the bed when I heard the unmistakable thud of my never-before-rolled baby hitting the bedroom floor)

But feel much better knowing it seems like a very common thing to happen 😂🙈 but yeah he seems ok he's fast asleep now but I just keep checking on him every 5 minutes 🤷🏼‍♀️ but thankyou for sharing your experiences has made me feel sooo much better ! X

DD did the same, at a similar age. Cried for a minute, the she was fine.
She also fell all the way down the stairs aged 2, turning a double cartwheel on the way, & landed on her hands, knees & face. Onto a wooden floor. I saw the whole thing, thought for sure she'd have serious injuries. Couple of minor bruises...

Children are more resilient than you'd think. Sympathy though, it's a horrible shock when they do something like that.

My dd teleported off the sofa on to the floor, I turned around and a split second later she was off! She cried, I cried, she was fine, I was not 😂

I’m pretty sure my fearless DTs are trying to kill me from stress with their dare devil antics!

I hope you had a good nights sleep OP. It's so awful when it happens. My health visitor told me because babies done tense themselves when they fall they are less likely to be injured than we are (she told me this when I called her, absolutely hysterical, after my daughter had called off my bed)

I think it's actually effected me more than it has my son haha 😂 he has probably forgot all about it, and then there's me having nightmares about it on an extreme level 😳😂 ffs

My brother shoved me as a newborn downstairs in my pram. My niece stood on
my brothers knee and toppled off onto a stone floor before he could catch her. The screams she made were awful but were more through fright than anything and she was totally fine. Babies are not made of glass and that’s lucky because your heart will stop more than once as the take a header, trip, slip eyc
